No tooltip caching. It's been my experience so far that once a tooltip is cached client side it immediately shows up. So using LibGratuity i open the tooltip and then search it in the next line. As for searching, just enable color blind mode and add the item rarity to the search box. Any tooltip search that has all the elements (space seperated) in the tooltip are shown. IE: "epic red" shows all epic gems that fit a red socket as well as epic metas that require a red socket.

There is nothing wrong with LibGratuity. It's a rather small and specific tooltip scanning Lib. I've looked into doing an internal implementation, but found myself replicating 2/3rds of the code and decieded to just keep it. :P

Then your use-case is warranted. I've mostly seen it used in AddOns that simply want to grab the NPC "affiliation" from its tooltip, which doesn't require an entire library to do.
