2) post your real releases to a real release site, which can be done via (1) if you use their svn/git server

There is another thread explaining Kunda's decision not to use various release sites and their repository mechanisms. If you'd like an older version for debugging purposes, perhaps the correct thing to do would be to ask for an older version.

Edit: I would like to point out that this forum's description states: "Authors, post your release ready addons here to get feedback or just to let everyone know about it." This seems to say that posting complete addons as attachments in this forum is an acceptable mechanism for distribution, even if it is not preferred by some authors or users.

It's not really a matter of wanting the old version... it's really just that some user reports an issue with a different addon to me... *intending* to be nice, I was going to grab the old version, find the bug, see if it's been fixed, and offer a solution up. Instead, whatever kunda's reasons, it's a lot more effort than that for me, so fuck it. It just kills collaboration, but the one that's losing out on it is kunda :P

I agree that this method of distribution presents several potential inconviences for users. However, I respect the author's decision in weighing his or her own inconveniences against those of users.

When my inconvenience level gets too high as a user, I just stop using it.

yep, as tekkub said, this addon was good but not good enough for me to bother checking this thread to update it, time to move on to another helm/cloak addon.

HelmNCloak is just using three hooksecurefunc() functions!!!
HelmNCloak is NOT changing any Blizzard variable or function!!!

If your addon can not handle this: FIX YOUR ADDON!!!

If wowace.com removes the 3rd-party-authentification-method (captcha.net or whatever crap) to download addons (especially for logged-in authors) I will use there repository again. If not I release addons as attached file in this forum. Basta.
